  • Q: What does the Digital Publisher do?
  • A: We take a regular PDF document and convert it into a fully functional, interactive page turning publication for you to use online.
  • Q: What is a digital publication?
  • A: A digital publication is an online version of a normal printed publication. The way it is presented remains unchanged onscreen, so rather than scrolling down a PDF, you simply turn the pages, just like you were holding it in your hand!
  • Q: Will I need any special software to view a publication online?
  • A: No, the publications can be viewed on any internet browser, you just need adobe flash player which is a free automatic download (99% of browsers will already have this installed).
  • Q: Can you search for certain text/items within the publication?
  • A: Yes, there is a search facility within the main toolbar which allows you to look up specific text within the publication. It will also tell you which pages it has found it on!
  • Q: How much does it cost?
  • A: It varies depending on the number of pages you are uploading. However, if you are uploading more than 1 document, the rate will be determined on the total number of pages across all document combined, rather than individually. The Standard service rates range from £15 per page, down to £6 per page depending on the total volume uploaded.  Premium pricing is based on a lot more factors so we would need to quote based on a brief.
  • Q: How will my publications come to me once they have been created?
  • A: You will receive a link which you can then use to view the publication.
  • Q: How can I use the link once I have received it from thedigitalpublisher.co.uk?
  • A: Once you have the link, you can either have this on your website, or send it our in an e-mail broadcast. For more information on how we can help you with this, please contact…
  • Q: Will the digital publication be easy to use?
  • A: Yes very. There is an instruction page that sits opposite the front page of the publication. This explains how to use all elements of the publication.
  • Q: Can I print off the digital publication?
  • A: Yes, there is an option on the toolbar to do this. You can also choose which pages you want to print.
  • Q: Can I have links to various web pages and also include video and audio?
  • A: In order to use the full capabilities of the software, you would need to talk to one of our Digital technicians about creating a bespoke publication for you from our Premium service.
  • Q: Is there any reporting that I will get back on the digital publication?
  • A: In order to use the full capabilities of the software, you would need to talk to one of our Digital technicians about creating a bespoke publication for you.
  • Q: Can I send it out in an email broadcast?
  • A: Yes you can, and we fully encourage this as a way of using your digital publication. For any help with email broadcasting or obtaining 3rd party email data, please contact our parent company HJ Marketing Ltd on 01296 468528.
  • Q: Can I use it on my website?
  • A: Yes, you can either use the link on your website or embed the link directly. If you need help with this please contact our help line on…….
  • Q: What if I don’t have a PDF version of the document I want to upload?
  • A: It’s not the end of the world; we can take Word or PowerPoint documents also and convert them into the digital publication for you.
  • Q: Can I upload Word or PowerPoint documents instead of a PDF?
  • A: Yes
  • Q: Is there a limit to the number of pages I can upload?
  • A: No
  • Q: Is there a minimum number of pages I can upload?
  • A: There is no minimum number of pages that you can upload, but there is a minimum order value of £100.00 ex vat.
  • Q: How long will the digital publication remain live and active?
  • A: Once you have bought your digital publication and received the live link, this will remain live continuously or until you decid it needs to be cancelled.
  • Q: Where is it hosted?
  • A: The publication is hosted across over 20,000 servers worldwide which enables it to be viewed as quickly a possible no matter where you are in the world.
  • Q: What if I want to amend a document after it has been published?

  • A: Yes, the publication will be hosted on over 20,000 servers worldwide, so the link will never go down.

  • Q: What are the main differences between Standard and Premium options?
  • A: In addition to the number of extra features available like bespoke flash programming, video and audio content etc, you will receive one on one consultation from a member of our team.   • A: Yes, using the new SmartCAT function, we can set up an e-commerce option for you. There are a few options available on this.
  • Q: What is SmartCAT?
  • A: SmartCAT allows the use of e-commerce interaction within the publication allowing users to purchase directly though the publication or be directed to a website.
  • Q: What are SmartTABs?
  • A: SmartTabs are tabs inside the pages of the publication that when clicked expand to show their content. This can be video, animations, a PDF or even an image slideshow. See our feature page for an example.
  • Q: Can I have links to various web pages and also include audio and video?
  • A; Yes, we can go though this with you ahead of the build.
  • Q: Is there any reporting available:
  • A: Yes, there is a comprehensive reporting feature, which you can have access to.
  • Q: Is there a maximum number of pages that I can upload.
  • A: No.
  • Q: Do I have to host it?
  • A: No. All publications are hosted on Limelight servers that many large organisations use, such as Ebay, Youtube and Xbox Live. This ensures that the link remains fast and secure wherever you are in the world.
  • Q: How long will a publication remain live? Are there ongoing hosting fees?
  • A: Once you have bought your digital publication and received the live link, this will remain live continuously or until you decid it needs to be cancelled. There are no ongoing hosting fees.
  • Q: Can it be amended once published?
  • A: Yes, and this is done without the need to unpublish the existing version.
